Our Little Girl

Before the boys were born, Noah and I took great care of our dog Lucy.  Once the boys came along, we let a few things go – she didn’t get quite as many walks.  She probably lost out on a little daily playtime.  And we didn’t make it to the groomer quite as often as we should have.  Otherwise, she is a very loved dog, and a very important member of the family.

But back to the grooming.

Honestly, it seems everyone in our family pretty much waits until things are getting pretty unpresentable before we get ourselves “groomed".”  Don’t believe me?

Yikes!  It’s not like we were growing that hair for charity or anything.

However, recently one of us reached a new low:

When we discovered a dozen hot wheels cars embedded in her fur, we decided that enough was enough.  Unfortunately, “enough” was probably a few weeks ago, and the groomer insisted that we had no option other than an extreme makeover.

So here she is, the fresh new face of 2009:

The groomer shaved off all her fur.  Lucy seems very happy with her new, lighter coat.  However, the groomer suggested wearing a sweater on cooler days, so now she has this to contend with:

Nevertheless, we are glad to have our little girl starting the year off in good shape!

Santa should have brought Noah a razor for Christmas. Scruffiness is so 2008... :>

Luckily that was a couple of years ago - we clean up a little better these days!

Oh the trauma! But afterwards, don't they really seem all the friskier? Her pink skin really compliments her silver scruff.
