he’s got to wear shades:
Lucas has always been very aware of light. When he was an infant his favorite thing to do was stare and point at lights. However, sunlight is often just too much for him, so he’s grown accustomed to wearing sunglasses. What was once simply a practical implement has now become a fashion statement. He is often stopped on the street by people commenting on how cool he looks. But he is, of course, too cool to acknowledge his admirers. Ever aloof, he just walks on.
What is somewhat less cool is when sunglasses don’t even do the trick. His sensitive eyes really suffer when we are at the beach. Between the brightness and the sand blowing his way, he can get pretty unhappy. So we resorted to the only thing that would bring him comfort.
Oddly enough, he was very happy this way. More support for my parenting mantra: Whatever Works.
