4th of July

What a great weekend!  On Friday, Gaga and Pop-Pop took the kids for an afternoon full of snacks, toy stores and playgrounds, while Mommy took a breather at the beach.

On Saturday we joined our friends Dylan, Tyler, Colin, Jamie and Lindsay for a wonderful kid-friendly BBQ complete with water toys, trampoline and swings.  Who could ask for more?

It was a perfect day, and the boys played their little hearts out.

They were full of hugs when we were leaving, thanking everyone, and even trying to hug Tyler who was sitting on a potty chair at the time.  Their gratitude knew no bounds!

In the evening we made our way to Brett and Susan’s house, where the boys experienced their first fireworks!  They loved them!  We have a couple of friends who are actually taller than Daddy, and were happy to give the boys a bird’s eye view.

The next day we enjoyed time with our Homeschool Preschool families.  The Hudsons hosted a yummy BBQ complete with the kids decorating cupcakes for us.  Yes please!

The dads had a few surprises up their sleeves as well.  First, they took the kids to the park, leaving us moms to sip drinks alone on the patio.  Woo hoo! After dinner, they presented us with spa gift certificates as a thank you for our year of homeschooling the kids.  I was truly touched!

Then after several cupcakes, much frosting and hundreds of sprinkles, the sugar rush hit.  There was much fun to be had running around the yard and rough-housing with the dads.

What a great time we had with our friends!

Sadly, Lucas fell on the sidewalk just as we were reaching our car.  He now has a fat lip and a chin full of scrapes, but I know what he (and all of us) will remember from this weekend is how fortunate we are to have so many wonderful friends in our lives.  We couldn’t be more thrilled about the incredible people these boys have brought into our lives, and how lucky we are to call this place home.

Jess, it's really sweet of you to make up a cover story about Lucas' bar brawl, but it's really not necessary. One look at him in those aviator shades, and we all know he's a brawler.

It was great to see you too! Your boys are so adorable and sweet. It was great to see all of the boys playing together! What fun.

Any time you're up for a potty party, come on over. Glad we could all hang out!
