Bikes!

For Christmas, Santa was planning on giving the boys some tricycles. They love to ride their friends' trikes whenever we are at the park or at someone's house, so it seemed like the right time. However, Mommy could hardly contain her excitement once she found two used Lightning McQueen tricycles. So after some negotiations with Santa (that guy will agree to anything if you promise him a few extra cookies) it was decided that Mommy could get the bikes and give them to the boys early.

This was the right decision. The weather is beautiful and the boys are getting great use of their new trikes. They are so excited and proud about how well they ride. I'm really proud too. I'm really surprised at how well they can maneuver corners, hills, and rough terrain. They think the only thing cooler than their bikes are their helmets, which they love to wear, whether or not on the bike.

The bikes are designed with a little cubby area, which is perfect for carting Abba, Puppy and Hot Wheels cars around with us. The boys also create projects every time we go out - collecting leaves, rocks, or flowers that they store in the cubby. They won't let me clean it out, so in the garage we currently have two awesome trikes with piles of dead foliage shoved in the storage compartment.

We ride around our complex, where the boys try to go as fast as they can, often in circles, chasing each other. In addition, we take the bikes to the park where they will ride to the swings, park their bikes, swing for five minutes, then get back on the bikes, ride twenty feet to the slide, park again and slide. You get the picture.
So, whether we are getting exercise or just using a mode of transportation for short distances that make us look really cool, we are loving life on our new bikes!
