I don't know if it is just coincidence, but my little guys have been displaying a lot of heart lately.
Yesterday Ethan rediscovered "Baby" and spent a good deal of time playing "Daddy". In fact, after putting her in the high chair and giving her oatmeal and milk, he said "Bye-Bye" to her, told her he was going to the office, gave her hugs and kisses and left the room waving, just like Noah does when he leaves for work. I tried my best not to crack up and distract him.
In addition to this display of cuteness, Ethan decided to start singing this week. He has always liked to sing, but it has generally been in a voice that qualifies as more of a yell. However, yesterday he really sang for the first time. It was the sweetest and most beautiful sound I have ever heard. He sang "Rainbow Connection". We have been singing that song recently as we lay the boys down in their cribs for nap and at night. The words are (note that there are some modifications from the original):
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions and only illusions
Rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
My Ethan, my Lukey and me.
Well, Ethan just started singing to himself the following, in the sweetest voice ever to come out of a human:
"Rainbow song...visions...illusions...E-ten...Lukey...and Me."
He held the last note as I melted on the floor. It was truly one of the best moments of my life.
Lucas has also touched my heart plenty the last few days. He has been a hugging and kissing fiend. He just comes up to me with a massive smile on his face and says "More hugs!" Then he hugs me with his head on one of my shoulders, looks up and says "Nudder side" and hugs me with his head on the other shoulder. Then he asks me for kisses all over his face and neck. He has done this a couple times a day, and I could pretty much do just this all day long and be happy.
Lucas has been spreading the love around as well. He has taken a liking to my friend Sue, and couldn't wait to run up to her and give her hugs at the park yesterday. He took her by surprise by planting a big kiss on her lips as well. He also loved the idea of making Valentines for friends and family. Ethan was mostly coloring on the table and his shirt while Lucas thoughtfully listed his friends and chose just the right valentine for each. When we went to playgroup at the park, he was so excited to hand them out. In fact, he kept coming back to me, asking for more. I had some extras and he excitedly gave them to kids he had never met before at the park. It totally melted my heart.
It is great to be so in love on Valentine's Day! (Noah is pretty great too!)
