Fall Fun

As the fall come to a close, I’d like to chronicle all the fun we had that kept us so busy that I couldn’t even find time to blog about it.

Just to note, fall is my favorite season, and often a time I find myself longing for my four-seasons childhood.  However, this year has been hugely satisfying here in San Diego – full of cold nights, cool and cloudy days, and our first fall in a neighborhood full of trees and fall leaves, even in this monotone weather city. I’ve been in heaven.

We kicked off the season with an end of summer/anniversary/back to school/Labor Day celebration full of music, food, and friends.

Then the big day – First Day of School!  The boys were well-coiffed and neatly dressed.  What a great impression they would make before the teachers learned that we usually are in desperate need of  haircuts and most of our pants have holes in the knees.  But this day, this one day, we had it all together.  Awww, yeah.

We enjoyed our annual camping trip this fall, complete with dirt, marshmallows, marshmallows with dirt, swimming, goats jumping over fences, rock climbing, and more dirt. So much fun!

So much rain!  Enough to provide us with our first huge double rainbow!  I just loved this day – people all over San Diego were admiring this rainbow and calling on phones, posting on FB, and gathering with neighbors to share this rarely seen phenomenon.

Of course, the best part of fall…FOOTBALL!!

Halloween was a blast.  It was celebrated over, and over and over again.  School provided us with a trip to the pumpkin patch and a costume party, and we tick-or treated in our neighborhood for the first time.  All the hills that L&E complain about when we take walks were no match for two little boys with candy in their sights.  P1010713

A trip to Legoland with our twin buddies (and Ethan’s betrothed) Sarah and Liza was great fun!  The boys wanted to try everything – rollercoasters, log rides, flying machines, driving cars.  You name it, they did it.

Now we are looking forward to the holiday season with our wonderful families, full of tradition, joy and time together!
