It’s time for your first lemonade stand!
The boys have been asking for new things lately and were dismayed to discover that Santa is far from on his way and that their birthday won’t be arriving any time soon. So we discussed other options. We talked about earning money and saving money. They were given piggy banks this past year and learned about the earning and spending part, but the saving part had thus far eluded them. So we got a book from the library about saving and developed a business plan.
Despite the current economy, there is still money in being cute. We’ve got that market cornered. Add some sweet lemonade on a sunny day, a prime spot at a busy intersection, and you’re in business.
Business was slow at first…
The boys couldn’t understand why people weren’t pulling over like crazy. Signage was well displayed, the product was enticing, the price point was right on, and the cuteness was undeniable.
We were feelin’ pretty blue…
…when business finally picked up! In fact, we could hardly keep up with the demand. There were doting grandmotherly ladies, exhausted soccer moms with the whole team in the van, and a caravan of college student who undoubtedly spiked their drinks when they got home.
Music, waving and cuteness were the right combination.
The boys made TEN DOLLARS – which far exceeds my financial contribution to the family over the past four years. :)
We had a great time, and the boys are well on their way to some new toys!

Hi, I've been trying to look at your latest blog: Yankee Doodle Dandies, but I keep getting an error message that it's not posted to your blog. I didn't know if you knew that.
